Sketchbook Challenge 24 January

Today's prompt was "At the Cafe"  I nearly gave up on this one - I find drawing figures challenging, particularly when attempting more than one.  However, rather than start again with another reference photo I ploughed on.

Sketchbook Challenge 23 January

Watercolour and mixed media

The prompt was "Bridge" and I chose this medieval gatehouse which bridges the moat around Brockhampton Manor in Herefordshire.

Sketchbook Challenge

An update on January's sketching prompts.  Most of my previous sketches have been from life, but in some instances I have had to refer to old sketches or, as in the case of the beetle, an online image.  I am enjoying working on toned paper again. #30daysketchbookchallenge

Silver acrylic ink was used as an underpainting
for this pen and watercolour image

The prompt was "book covers", but I chose to depict book spines,
referencing a sketch I made in my travel journal when visiting
Hay-on-Wye (National Book Town of Wales) some years back

30 Day Sketchbook Challenge

With outdoor sketching possibilities restricted during this cold and sometimes very wet month, I have joined the 30 day challenge set by #learninglinocut - #30daysketchbookchallenge2022.  I am not usually one to follow set prompts, but have found it useful on this occasion and have so far managed to keep up (even if it is scrabbling to get something down just before I go to bed).

These are drawn in an A5 sketchbook, mostly in pen and watercolour, sometimes with mixed media additions.  More to follow.

Fabric dolls

Now Christmas is well and truly over, I can post a couple of stocking-fillers I made for two little girls.  This was very much an experimental approach for me.
