After a very slow start to the year following on from Covid restrictions, we had a good meeting on Saturday with 13 sketchers turning up, some of them joining for the first time. The weather was good, sunny and warm, but with a pleasant breeze. Our venue was a small, man-made lake to the west of Swindon with a couple of interesting buildings nearby, including a rather ornate Chinese restaurant.

The lake was constructed in 1987, maybe to alleviate any flooding as the town was expanding rapidly. I believe the restaurant was built at least a couple of years later, before being joined by housing, a small shopping parade and a pub.

Unfortunately, the little pagoda on the island is now completely hidden by trees - in any case time and nature have taken their toll and, during last winter, it looked as if it was about to collapse.
