Lockdown Quilt

Back in March I mentioned that I was contributing a small embroidered square for a lockdown quilt project. A couple of weeks ago, six of the panels made so far were being exhibited during Cheltenham Open Studios so I, and a couple of friends, took the opportunity to go and see it.

It really was an excellent exhibit in a beautiful church setting, we could have spent hours discovering all the different images and imagining the stories behind them.

I have included pictures of 3 of the panels and you can find more information about this continuing project and my contribution here and here.

Eco-dyed book (Part 2)

Eventually, I have finished recording the remaining flip-through of my eco-dyed book.  (Part 1 can be viewed here.

I have strengthened some of the fragile pressed leaves with tissue, either on one side or both.  In addition, the veining in a couple of them has been highlighted with metallic wax crayon.

The book measures 8" x 4", using 140 lb watercolour paper (mainly Bockingford hot pressed).  The buckle is made of a couple of layers of the same paper, the band from some calico which was dyed in the same pot.

Eco-dyed artist's book

I have finally got round to utilising some of my eco-dyed papers in a handmade book.  Much of the inspiration has come from following the Instagram accounts of Sue Brown #sb.brown21 and Jo Horswill #paper_cloth_studio.

So far I have only added a few pressed leaves to some of the pages, but I might add some prints or drawings later.

The full filmed flip-through was too long to be added in its entirety, so I might re-film the second part later.
