Postcard prints for charity

Following on from my previous post, I have now sent out my six postcards - 5 to UK addresses and one to USA.

I also put my name down to receive a print from @proofprintpress and was lucky enough to receive this delightful piece of art yesterday.  Now to send my donation to the local Prospect Hospice.

Collaged postcards

Since I finished my collage journal last month I have missed the playfulness of cutting, tearing and sticking random oddments of painted papers.  I have a box of Hahnemuehle watercolour postcards which I have only used on a couple of occasions and the size of these appealed to me as a substrate for further paste and paper experiments.  I also added machine stitching for more texture and interest.

Recent gouache and ink resist painting

This painting has been languishing in my "unresolved" folder for over a month.  The original plein air sketch was done in November 2017, then earlier this year I followed it up with a postcard size sketch which prompted me to try an ink resist version.  I am still trying to decide if I want to take it any further.

I forgot to take photos of the intermediate stages of applying the gouache and then covering the entire painting with Indian ink (this process is explained here).

Further watercolour washes have been applied

Hahnemuhle watercolour postcards

At the end of last year, Hahnemuehle sent me a tin of their watercolour postcards (30 size approx. 6" x 4").

I always have trouble finding suitable birthday cards for male relatives, but for my brother-in-law this year I used one of these postcards and popped it in with his gift.  On a recent visit to their cottage in the wilds of Wales I had taken a photograph of his prized Massey Ferguson tractor - an ideal subject for his birthday greeting.
